Step into The Stafford London’s historic wine cellar for an evening shaped by exceptional wine and considered cooking. Hosted by Michael Caines MBE, our Head Sommelier, and Winemaker Matthew Day, this series of wine dinners brings together renowned producers, with a five-course MICHELIN-starred menu designed to complement each wine.

First, on 18th June from 6:30pm, we welcome Klein Constantia, one of South Africa’s most historic estates, founded in 1685 and set on the slopes of the Constantiaberg. Internationally recognised for its precision and balance, the estate is perhaps best known for Vin de Constance, a naturally sweet wine with a long-standing reputation that has been enjoyed for centuries. Nestled beneath the hotel, the cellar spans over 400 years of history and houses an exclusive collection of more than 8,000 bottles from some of the world’s most respected producers. Within this setting, each evening unfolds in a relaxed, conversational format, bringing together the producer, the wines, and a menu by Michael Caines. Michael will introduce the menu on the evening, offering insight into the inspiration behind each dish and its pairing.

Meet the Producer

Our wine dinners offer a more focused way to experience exceptional producers and regions. For this evening, the focus is on Klein Constantia, one of South Africa’s most historic estates, founded in 1685 on the slopes of the Constantiaberg. Known for its balance and precision, and for the renowned Vin de Constance, the estate offers a distinctive expression of the Constantia Valley, brought to life through the wines poured and the insight shared by the producer.

Paired with a five-course menu by Michael Caines, the experience is designed to highlight the relationship between food and wine, with each course carefully aligned to the wines it accompanies.

Michael will introduce the menu on the evening, offering insight into the inspiration behind each dish and its pairing. Each course is developed to complement the progression of the wines, creating a menu that unfolds with clarity and intention from the first pour through to the final glass.

Our 400-year-old wine cellar

Set within our historic wine cellar, dating back over 400 years, these events provide a close and considered environment to engage with the producer, the wines, and the setting in which the evening unfolds. With a collection of more than 8,000 bottles, the cellar offers a distinctive backdrop for the evening.

Guests will be invited to a private introduction to the cellar, offering insight into its history and character before the dinner begins.
